Big Apple (NYC)

Novelty Money Bill # 015

Our One Million Dollar Big Apple commemorative bill celebrates New York City, affectionately nicknamed The Big Apple.

Our One Million Dollar Big Apple commemorative bill celebrates New York City, affectionately nicknamed The Big Apple.  New York City is the largest city in the U.S. and a major seaport city.  It was founded as New Amsterdam, a Dutch trading post on Manhattan Island, in 1626.  The colony surrendered to the British in 1664 and was renamed New York.  It was the capital of New York State until 1797, and was the U.S. capital from 1789 to 1790.  Long a magnet for immigrants to the U.S., New York City is today a center of world trade and finance, media, art, entertainment, and fashion.  The Front of the Bill depicts a shiny red apple, a street vendor's cart, one of the "millions" of taxis in New York City, and the names of the last two mayors, Rudolf W. Giuliani and Michael R. Bloomberg, and the bill's serial number, NYC4USALL (New York City for Us All).  The Back of the Bill depicts the New York City skyline and the New York Transit Authority, one of the largest underground transit systems in the world.

Electric Guitar

Novelty Money Bill # 030

Our One Million Dollar Classic Guitar novelty currency bills commemorate one of the greatest inventions for modern music.

The guitar was a classical musical instrument used primarily by folk artists until the electric guitar was invented in the 1920s by attaching electric pickups to the acoustic guitar. Soon, electro-acoustic guitars were being produced.  The electric guitar and its increased acoustic pickups led to the creation of rock music in the 1950s.  Though rock music had used a wide variety of instruments, its basic elements now rely on several vocalists, and heavily amplified electric guitars.  Our One Million Dollar Classic Guitar novelty money bills commemorate one of the greatest inventions for modern music.
